Digital TV Switch May Leave Some In The Dark

The digital TV switch happens today, with more than 1 million Americans unprepared for the switch.

I would also guess, that most of the households that are unprepared, are the ones that are the most disconnected–the poor, the elderly, and people for whom English is not their primary language. We need to make sure that we get to these communities, and give them the option of upgrades... A $70 box to allow them to watch digital TV is out of reach for many Americans, and for this same cross section of society, a television is their only method of obtaining information.

I think it's important that we keep upgrading our infrastructure, but we have to make sure we don't leave anyone behind in doing so.
